Why We Built This Site
Kansas gives the public access to many records, but Atchison County record access is split by office and record type. District Court handles state trial court records, including civil, criminal, divorce, probate, juvenile, small claims, and some traffic matters. The Clerk of District Court is the court-record contact at 423 N. 5th Street. Municipal traffic and city ordinance cases can belong to the City of Atchison Municipal Court at 515 Kansas Avenue. Jail and booking information comes from the Sheriff's Office at 518 Parallel Street.
The goal is to make those boundaries clear. A person looking for a certified District Court copy should not start with the sheriff. A person looking for a city ticket should not assume Kansas CaseSearch has the only answer. A person looking for a county administrative record may need the Atchison County KORA process rather than a court docket search.
